A Guide to Sydney Dy Pools

In computing, a pool is a group of resources, such as IP addresses or MAC addresses, that are made available to applications. A pool may be used to allocate resources to clients, as in a network configuration with the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). A pool may also be a set of variables or attributes that can be shared across multiple instances of an application. A common use case is to share a database between applications, where one application may access the database and the other will serve as a cache.

Australia’s capital is not only home to the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, but also a remarkable collection of ocean pools. The city has more of these man-made public seawater pools than any other in the world, with over 100 in New South Wales alone. These are typically found on surf coasts, with rocks carved out of headlands and filled with sea water that flows over the sides.

The sdy pools that dot the city’s coastline are a favourite among locals, offering a tranquil swim with views of the crashing waves below. From the iconic Bondi Icebergs Pool to secluded rockpools that have been bathing women in their natural mineral waters since 1886, these swim spots are sure to impress.

But the new pool at North Sydney – which will be run and mostly funded by the council – has been beset by controversy. Its budget has blown out to $100m, and the opening date has been pushed back to 2025. With accusations of pork-barrelling and a lack of transparency, it is being deemed by many to be a political folly.

A local in-the-know says the pool is still worth a visit, but that the community should be allowed to share the pool beyond swimming carnivals. He adds that charging fashion week shows, production companies or private parties – activities that are outside the pool’s usual remit – would help to recoup some of the bill.
