Hong Kong Pools – The Best Places to Cool Off in the Heat

Say “Hong Kong,” and a few things might come to mind: shopping, dim sum and, perhaps most likely, the world’s highest pool. Fortunately, the city is loaded with picturesque pools to soak in the summer heat. From an indoor pool decked out like a Gatsby-era speakeasy to a natural infinity pond on the side of a mountain, here are some of Hong Kong’s most scenic spots to cool down by the water.

Located on the 76th floor of W Hong Kong, this rooftop infinity pool is a big draw thanks to its incredible views. Guests can swim in the large pool, or just lounge by the jacuzzi and enjoy drinks from the bar. The hotel offers a range of other amenities that make this the perfect place to unwind, including deckchairs, cocktails and high-speed internet access.

This sleek indoor pool is a jaw-dropper thanks to its location, the view and, of course, the fact that it’s in a hotel. The Ritz Carlton is famous for its luxury and this pool is no different. It’s at the tippy-top of the International Commerce Center (aka, the tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong), so swimming here is basically like swimming among the clouds. It also features floor to ceiling windows, a mirrored ceiling and LED walls that showcase the illusion of coral reefs.

A hidden gem in the heart of Mongkok, this pool is a great option for those who prefer a quieter swim. The pool is spacious and has lanes for swimmers of all ages, but the real draw here are the views over the hustle and bustle below. Guests can lounge in one of the cabanas or just relax by the pool, taking in the cityscape.

Located in Wong Chuk Hang, this huge pool complex has pools of all sizes and is split into two levels. It’s the best choice for those looking to swim laps, practise their diving skills or let the kids run wild in the water slides. There’s even a lazy river and waterfall to boot.

If you’re planning on spending a day at one of these beautiful hk pools, you’ll need to get there early to nab a spot. It’s also recommended to bring your own towel and swimwear, as public pool towels are not provided. Admission is $19 per session, but a monthly ticket is available for $150. Lockers are available for a $5 coin or you can bring your own padlock. Be sure to check the website for more information on opening hours and schedules.
